Struggling to be Different but Not!

New management has been trying for the last year but there's not a lot to work with. The units are old, fixtures old, carpets worn, tubs have enamel paint over the chips and rust, the particle board under the countertops is swollen and dissintegrating with age, the paint on the walls and doors is thick from years of being applied over and over, and there seem to be continuous water leaks that the residents end up paying for because of the way the overall bill is split. The complex is very dog friendly but the residents are not very good about cleaning up after their pets even though there are Pet Clean Up stations scattered around the grounds. Dog droppings on the sidewalks and stairs occur much too frequently. And if you don't have a dog, you are almost snubbed at times by the other residents grouped around sharing their dog stories. Also, the units rent for amounts similar to what you would find in the Arboretum community but the amenities just don't compare. There is no on-site workout facility or business center or resident appreciation events. Office staff are unavailable during lunch or the weekends, which hinders communication and meetings if you work for a living. And try sometime to successfully get useful information from the automated phone attendant when staff is not in the office - it ain't happening and hasn't for the entire year the system has been in place. Positives about the complex: the grounds while not lush are neat and clean, the pool area is nice and maintained, it's a small community with older residents that tend to be quieter, it backs up to the Great Hills greenbelt with direct access to those walking trails, the surrounding neighborhood is relatively quiet with very little crime, and of course it is in the Arboretum area and very close to lots of good shopping and entertainment.
