When I moved in, the place was swarming with German cockroaches. I fogged the place, and walked around with a can of roach spray all the time. And still they survived. Lucky for me, I went away for the summer just a week after moving in. I did complain to the management, they put down bait and maybe even sprayed. Long story short, when I got back at the end of the summer, there weren't any roaches.

It's not fancy, but the floorplan of the two-story one-bedroom is fantastic and rather unique. The water temperature in the shower fluctuates to a ridiculous degree, but I guess Stockholm syndrome has set in because I seem to have adapted. But the dishwasher and air conditioning work, and that musty smell from all the anti-roach chemicals is almost not noticeable anymore. The light fixtures all use those $5 fancy compact fluorescent bulbs, but not in any standard wattage easily found at Lowe's. But I managed to get one of the maintenance people to change some of them at no cost to me. You might even say I was beginning to find little fault in this place...


...but in the last two weeks I've spotted a few roaches again, even after I got a notice telling me they were going to spray (but no notice on my kitchen table telling me that they HAD Sprayed, like before I left for the summer). And apparently the management has been changed to a different company.
All that remains is to wait and see...but caveat emptor.
