My experiences with Churchil Crossing (Please Read)

I went through an Apartment locator who showed me this property and after looking at 2 or 3 units I decided on a 1bd/1ba with fireplace. Crystal and Michelle in the leasing office are really nice and always ready to help. The unit was very nice and had just been fixed up for a new tenant. On move-in day it went like a dream, the apartment was very clean and the leasing office even left me a nice welcome card and a roll of toilet paper and a roll of kitchen paper. My rent is quite low and I also received my first month free.
After living in my new unit for about two months with no problems, I went to get into my car to go to work one day and I noticed that it had been broken into. I went to the leasing office and I filled out a report, I was upset that this had happened to my car, but the person/persons involved did not take anything because I do not leave valuables inside my car. I got over it and moved on. Then one night about a month later I was laying in bed talking on the phone at around 2:00am Saturday night/Sunday morning. I heard what sounded like a hood on a car being popped open, so I looked out of my bedroom window and to my surprise I saw two men trying to hotwire my car to steal it. They had opened the hood and the doors and were messing with wires under the steering wheel. I called 911 and the police arrived within seconds and arrested the 2 people involved. I asked the police officer about the apartment complex and the two officers informed me that it was a very bad area and that there is a high level of crime in the community. They informed me to just keep to myself and I will be fine. So of I went again to the leasing office and filled out another report for my vehicle.
I am glad that my unit is on the second floor as I feel much safer not being in a 1st floor unit. The balocny doors are french doors and look like they would be very easy to kick open by an intruder.
Where my apartment is located is in the back of the complex which at first I thought this would be the best place to live, as it is very quiet and dark and there is what I guess used to be a creek of some sort that runs in between my complex and The Arbor's next door. The grounds and landscaping around my building are kept up very nice. The workers do like to start mowing early in the morning though, which bothers me sometimes, as I work an overnight shift until 7am. I have only used the pool one time and that was when I had a couple of guests over, I am not sure about the pool that we went into because the water was cloudy and there were lots of other people in the pool and it just seemed dirty which I did not like. The complex has two swimming pools. No fitness center. The laundry rooms are not very user friendly, no change machines for the washer/dryers. There were two washers that were filled with water, but no clothing in them. This can be a pain when you are in a hurry to get your clothing washed. I do feel safe in my apartment, but I do not think that I would walk around the complex at night time. There is a nice Hike/bike trail in the back of the complex that is a few miles long it seems. I see people from my balcony walking their dogs at all hours of the day and night. My neighbors are very pleasant and they keep to themselves, which is fine with me. I hardly ever see them.
Apart from the incidents with my vehicle, my experience with my unit has been great, the electricity bill is usually low $40-$60 per month and the fireplace in the winter time will really keep the heating bill down as the heater will not even have to be turned on. I have never had a problem with hot water and it seems to go on forever like at a hotel. I had read in an earlier posting that the complex only has two boilers, this must have changed because I have never had an issue with the hot water in my unit.
The Wells branch area is not that bad and you are close to Wal-Mart and two H-E-B grocery stores. There are numerous restaurants and fast Food places Sonic/KFC/A&W Gas stations and that sort of thing. All in all it has not been that bad. If you keep to ypurself then all will be fine. People will not bother you that way.
