I moved into the apartments with the intent to transfer to a larger unit after six months. Before I signed the lease I made the management aware of this and they assured me there would be no penalty fees or transfer fees as long as I waited six months to transfer. Now that the time has arrived for me to move in with a friend, they are charging me $300 to transfer even after a full six months.
Also, when I signed the lease the management told me that as long as I had my rent payments in to the office by the time they openned on the fourth day of the month it would not be considered late. I've done this twice now because of the time I have to spend at my job, and twice now they've tried to charge me a late fee of $75.
The management at Colonial Village will tell you whatever you want to hear to get you to sign a lease. It may look like a good deal at first, but in the end it is really not worth the trouble. On top of that, they can't keep the same personnel working as sales ... what does that say!
Plus, the parking is always bad during the week. Too many party people coming over and taking up all the spots can become quite annoying! And my god the noise from the nearby streets! Enough said!
