Decent Place to Live

Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2007
I've lived at CV @ Quarry Oaks for almost a year now. It really is not as bad as a lot of reviewers on here are saying. The staff here is reliable, kind, and courteous. They've also put in a community social organization (though there is typically only 3-5 events every month).
As others have mentioned, yes, parking is a challenge. I often have to squeeze my explorer into a compact car parking section because there are no other spots. About 5-10 other renters do the same. I haven't found any issue with the gates though, nor problems with potholes. However, the main entrance does have a steep ramp. Not a big deal for my explorer, but cars with a low body frame have to be very careful.
Not very noisy, though I do live on the third floor. Only hear my neighbors when I'm in my bathroom. Outdoor noises from leaf blowers do exist, though they don't seem to work on the weekends. I do have earplugs for the rare case when they are doing something noisy Saturday morning. I think the extra bright bedrooms are more of a problem.
For construction, everything is high quality except for insulation. All rented rooms have giant windows, and since my 3rd floor room faces north, my heating bill is ridiculous during the winter and heat is hardly retained during frigid conditions. I'm going to buy myself some big squares of insulation to put over my windows with this winter coming up.
My carpet was replaced before I moved in, so no problems there. Walk the place down before you rent. Maintanence is timely and competent.
However, laundry room has 1 broken washing machine, 1 dryer that can't keep its door closed, and a couple of the coin slots are jammed (thus making 2 more dryers and 1 more washing machine unusable). Fortunately though there are plenty of dryers/washers. Laundry is $1 per load. Also, dryers don't do well on 7 pairs of jeans in one load.
The one thing I really don't like is that they are increasing my rent $30 per month after this year ends (which they didn't tell me until a couple days before my 90 day moveout notice). Makes me really want find a roommate and move to a 2 bedroom. Will obviously have to begin looking for a roomy next year.
Besides that, overall a good place to live.
