My experience at CV@QO was pretty disappointing. This apartment was so much of a let down that I literally didn't unpack some things a year ago when I moved in because I knew immediately that I would be moving out. Fortunately, I don't have very much longer on the lease and I will be moving to a much nicer complex for about the same money I was paying here.
My problem with the unit started immediately upon walking into the apartment. First there was a distinct smell that has never completely gone away. This is amazing because I'm a smoker, for my nose to pick it up, it has to be pretty strong. Who ever checked this apartment prior to leasing it to me must have no sense of smell. All I can figure about what I have put up with is the previous person who had the apartment had a cat or something and it had multiple accidents in the apartment in one particular corner. I asked the apartment complex to change out the carpet but they refused and said they will have the carpet cleaners come back and redo the carpet. This did occur, but the odor was still there. I was then told ( which is obviously a lie) that prior to me moving in, they had changed the pad under the carpet and then restreched the old carpet on top of it. This is b.s becuase it is pretty impossible to restrech carpet, let alone apartment grade carpet. I know this because I have been around more than my share of construction sites. When I realized that they wouldn't do anything about this, I stopped complaining and besides, all of my belongings were now in the apartment.
Secondly, the patio door lock has never functioned properly, despite two service calls (these were done promptly). I know that one can break a lease because of this, if the right procedure is followed, but I didn't pursue it. So, basically I cut a dowel rod to fit in the track to "lock" the door. Other than the above issues, the apartment was generally dirty, especially the cabinets. It became a neccessity to use contact paper in all of the cabinets. The other big thing was it looks to me like they put these apartments up extremely quick, judging by the sheet rock. You can see a lot of the seams in the walls, through the texturing on the wall. I guess when they taped and floated the walls they decided to do it blindfolded. There is also a massive amount of putty to hide previous holes in the walls. This could be from two things, either a previous occupant had some hellacious parties or as I tend to think, when the electical contractor came through to wire up the switches he couldn't find the wire. By this happening the only way to find the wire is to take a hammer to the sheetrock, hence the line of holes in the bedroom about light switch level. The only credit I will give this place is that most of the office staff are nice folks. It's just unfortunate that they have a sub-par units for the money.

Ok, thats about it. Do yourself a favor and look across the street if you want to live on McNeil. Even though I wont be renting there, McNeil Ranch's units are comparable price wise and it seems that they are well taken care of. If not I suggest looking out on 620. Oh and by the way, most Colonial Village apartments from what I have found were built very quickly, so it is probably in your best interest to steer clear of this management company all together.

Good luck and I hope this helps!

My family is in the flooring business, and yes you actually can change the padding and then put the original carpet back on. So you are misinformed.
