I'll admit that I didn't even know this place existed. And when I saw the exterior of the complex (hidden off Congress, dated and kinda shabb-looking), I was real relunctant. But when I walked into one of the units--I was extremely impressed.
This place is top notch! The rent is extremely affordable considering you can walk to the park, downtown, SOCO, bus lines, etc. The parking is free and never a problem. And the overall complex is always kept immaculate. But the thing I love the most about it is that it is extremely peaceful/quiet in spite of being so close to Downtown and several bars. Once in a blue moon you might hear concerts at Auditorium Shores, but its rare. The people are great too--friendly and very ecclectic mix of people of ALL ages, races, occupations, etc.
As for the individual units, the one bedrooms are kinda tight in terms of the living and dinning areas--but the bedrooms and closets are HUGE for what you pay for. And again--this place is immaculate with fairly new (if not brand new) appliances. The two bedroom units are nice too, but don't have as nice of view as some of the smaller units. If considering one, try to get one overlooking the ravine facing the School for the Deaf--private balconies, woodsy view and lots of light!!
Yes, the management is seldom seen but that's okay because if something needs to be fixed its usually done on the day requested so have no fear. All you have to do is call or leave a note. They are truly the best!
I'm must consider moving soon because I now need a much larger place, but its going to be really hard for me to give up such a fantastic downtown apartment. The other ratings on here speak highly for the place too. If you get it--consider yourself lucky to be living in one of Austin's best kept secret places.
