This place is a dump....

I have lived at this complex for 5 years and have not moved because of the close proximity to my job. I will, however, state that the complex as a whole has gone down the tubes over the years. It has become especially noticeable in the last three. The rent is reasonable for what you get, but when you take into account all the other issues, it's not really a great deal. The management has changed multiple times since I moved here. At the beginning, the complex was run by professional people who actually enforced rules. Nowadays, it is run by a young, rather unprofessional staff who have no respect for you. I had an issue which I reported multiple times over a 4 month period. After multiple attempts to simply repair and rig it, I finally demanded that more be done. I was told by the manager that she would look into the ----er and call me back...she never did. By the way, this girl, -----, is very unprofessional. I finally called her back two days later. I was giving her some time to follow up with me. At this point, I was rather frustrated so I told her that I wanted something to be done immediately. She cut me off and raised her voice at me. As for the other manager, ----, he is very friendly and helpful to the extent that he feels he needs to be. Again, it's a young staff that probably have more important social things to think/care about other than my air conditioner that doesn't cool off and constantly runs at 75 degrees. As for the neighbors, I have had very bad luck with the ones who live right next door to me. Although they tend to come and go, they have consisted of multiple single guys who live together and try to squeeze into a small one bedroom apartment. I don't think these people either work or go to school as they find the time to party in the common area outside of my front door til the wee hours of the night. I have another neighbor who uses her space outside her front door (this is the common area to 4 adjoining apartments) to store several appliances, shoes and boxes. When I first moved in, I was told that you could not leave anything outside of your door. That rule no longer applies. One of the guys that lived next door would actually leave multiple black bags full of trash outside of his door for several weeks. It was lovely to walk up to a swarm of flies and the smell of a dumpster. As for the maintenance, they do follow thru at the command of the management, but it's difficult to communicate anything with them unless you are fluent in Spanish (and I am not trying to be racist as I am 1/2 Mexican). The tenants, other than my direct neighbors, have gone down hill, as well. I don't feel safe even being outside after 10 pm due to the gangsters that live all around me. So, if you are someone who doesn't care about trashy, loud neighbors, an unfriendly staff that you have to follow up with to get things done and the look and feel of an apartment that is in the welfare district, Coopertree is for you. On a positive note, the pond along with the ducks is great, but I honestly fear for their safety. I have caught trashy parents actually encouraging their young children to throw and hit the ducks with rocks. Lovely. These are the types of people you will live by. I am out as soon as my lease ends!
