Recommended if you must live in an apartment

If you have to live in an apartment--and you don't go for the huge yuppie megaplexes in the 'burbs--this is a pretty sweet deal. Convenient location, well-maintained grounds, and the apartments themselves are actually really nice (you might not guess how nice they are by the architectural style of the buildings). Some of the appliances could use some updating (specifically, the dishwasher and bath fixtures), but everything else is nice. I paid $700 for a 1,050 sq.ft. two bed, two bath unit with a nice patio. It feels more like a small house inside than an apartment. The apartment comes with free cable and all bills are paid except electric. A great deal, considering the amount a lot of people pay for a shitbox on the side of the highway.

I'm really not sure why so many people have complained so vehemently about the property manager, Holly. I did occasionally find that she was not quick to respond to problems, although it was usually the ones that were complaints about my neighbors. She always responded very promptly to maintenance issues, and the maintenance guys were generally unobtrusive and did their job just fine. There were, however, a lot of complaints to be had about the neighbors. Just a lot of trashy people living there. It seems like there's a certain amount of people who have been living there happily for many years and never cause problems, and the rest of the apartments are occupied by a revolving door of noisy, littering, trashy people. 10 children in one apartment--Yeah, why not. No need to keep an eye on your naked toddler running through the parking lot either, I suppose. And why yes, I just love to hear the same bass line repeated at 30 decibels night after night. There was also the rare safety issue--one person's apartment got broken into that I know of, and I came outside one morning to find that two of my tires were mysteriously flat. In general, though, I felt pretty safe here as a young woman living alone. They do have a security patrol at night, although I found them to be completely unresponsive to noise complaints and had to resort to the cops for those.

Yeah, so that's the main complaint. Awful people, and there's not much you can do about that, especially in a thin-walled apartment complex. If you can deal with that, then you'll be pretty happy here.
