I have been in the property management industry for years. I even went to school for it, so sure, I'm a bit more judgmental when it comes to shopping for apartments, but my short experience at Deerfield was the biggest disappointment that I have encountered so far.
One of my friends was in town recently looking for an Apartment in Austin. Being that I work in the apartment industry here, I thought I knew some nice places around town. I wish I had never taken here here though.
We walked into the office on a Sunday afternoon and a well nourished girl came out of the office (clearly not happy to see us), and without so much as a 'hey, how are you doing'' she asked what we needed. My friend reluctantly told her she was looking for an apartment, and the mystery leasing consultant (no name given) said she'd be back and disappeared in a back room for about 10 minutes, meanwhile we were trying to decide if we should just leave because it was clear that we were unwelcome.
She finally came out of the back and planted 3 floorplans down in front of her, each with very vauge move in times (ie: May) and prices. She did not verbalize any of this, just left it for her to look at. An awkward moment passed and my friend finally asked if we could see an apartment.
The mystery consultant said that they had absolutely NO apartments to view. She did not offer to show us amenities, nor did she mention them, and needless to say, she definitely lost a lease over her complete disaster of a job.
Deerfield looks like a beautiful community. It looks like there are great ammenities, and I'm sure that they are well occupied, but just because you can fill your apartments up does not mean that customer service should start lacking SO much. Don't forget that one unhappy customer will tell 10 of their friends, and so on and so forth.
Maybe this girl was just having an awful day or hated her life or something, but I know one thing for sure: she wouldn't last a DAY where I work.
First impressions are everything, and this place left a bad taste in my mouth.
ps, this was sunday april 6th that we were looking for an apartment...hopefully if management can ever read this they will get rid of this girl ASAP!

I believe this should be removed as it personally attacks one of the leasing staff. She is a great worker and does not deserve this type of attack. Another leasing agent came in and their opinion is appreciated however their knowledge is clouded. They would not appreciate the lack of professionalism nor do we. I would appreciate if the remark made was removed. Thank you. Deerfield Manager.

It doesn't state a specific name, therefore it shouldn't be removed. And that's good that someone is stating the facts about what goes one, I've had a similar experience myself.

Well, the person I assume you are talking about helped me with my move-in and is currently helping me move to a bigger apartment. She has been nothing but helpful and courteous! In fact, she has gone out of her way to help me since the first time I stepped in the office. She must have been having a bad day. It happens to the best of us. I find it hard to believe that she would just choose to be nice to me and mean to another person. As a whole the staff is great! The maintenance guy could be a little more chipper, but hey, you can't have it all. I love this place, and so do all my friends who live here. We have met so many people through the events they have (ie. Brunch, happy hour, etc...). The parking does suck though...but we get by.
