Sure, it looks nice from the outsidebut inside you're trapped in a box, circa 1971, with cheap carpet and a kitchen so small you can't even make a sandwich without knocking something over. The management is straight-up rude, unhelpful, and interested only in getting the most of your money with the least work on their part. Sure, the courtyards are pretty, but the place is so poorly designed that if your neighbors jump, your pictures fall off the walls. The theme of this place is "cheap." They put in the cheapest carpet availablemine looked 10 years old after 8 months of being trodden on, barefoot, by one person, twice a day. Not that you can tell, really, because it's so dismally dark inside.
However, I have to hand it to Duval Villa on one count: location. I'm not going to miss the apartment itself, but I will miss the two cafes, four restaurants, grocery store, convenience store, AND bus stop across the street. Duval Villa is a pimple on the otherwise lovely face of Hyde Park, but if you want to be able to walk to Dolce Vita, live somewhere near it. Not here.
