I lived here when it was clothing-optional "New Manor" From: coop-slacker Date posted: 6/14/2004 Years at this apartment: 1980 - 1981 1 response   [Disclaimer: This information is helpful if you want to know something about the history of this complex that they probably won't tell you when go to look at it. It is certainly out of date and does not accurately describe the current conditions at the complex.] I lived here as a child in the early 1980s when this was known as "New Manor" and also the first clothing-optional apartment complex in the country. I have many good memories of the place but even as a five-year-old boy I found it difficult to get used to the old naked men constantly lounging by the pool. My younger brother (three years old at the time) almost drowned in the pool after I told him that if he wore his flip-flops he could walk on the water like Jesus and the apostles. When he regained consciousness, his first memory was of seeing a large pair of wrinkled balls as his rescuer held him upside down in some sort of attempt to drain the water from his lungs. I remember New Manor as a vibrant, lively and fun place filled with many interesting and exciting people. Almost 20 years later, I went to look at the apartments there and everything seemed much smaller and more boring than I had remembered.
