I moved out almost 2 months ago and have been trying to get someone to give me my deposit back ever since. I have been told 6 times that someone would call me back - this has never happened. I sent an email to the manager threatening legal action then called and told her that I sent her an email and confirmed the email address. Then I called a week later, after not getting a response, and was told by the regional manager (---) that that email didn't work and that she would call me back within a day... yeah right. No Call. So, I called again, this time she said she would call back in 20 minutes.... no call. So, I went into the office to force them into a conversation...
When I explained my rights as a tenant under Texas law, she laughed and said, "pffftt, Texas Law!" then told us to leave.
Know your rights people. If they don't return your deposit within 30 days or an itemized list of deductions, you are entitled to sue them for $100, plus 3 times your deposit wrongfully withheld, plus court costs and attorney's fees.... and you've already won because they have basically forfeited any defense by not acting within 30 days. The law is on your side on this one.
There is more to this story, but since we are filing suit, I'll leave the details out until after the hearing. Point is, believe everything that is posted in these reviews: green pool, rats, roaches, ants, plumbing, hot water, car break-ins, security, broken gates, extraordinary delays in maintenance, etc.
I saw it all and I only lived there for 7 months. This place is terrible and the management IS out to steal your money.

Totally agree with this review. If you know your legal rights, you will know that they are being violated at this place. Congratulations to anyone that posts that this place is a nice place to live, that means you finally, but barely, got out of the ghetto projects. And, for anyone that actually swims in that pool, I hope to God you know how to access the free clinic services in your neighborhood.

they tried to charge us for carpet cleaning fee on move-out. the unit we rented had absolutely zero carpet.
a few disgruntled phone calls and angry letters later we were able to get our deposit back. if we had not advocated for ourselves with the help of the austin tenants' council eastside commons would have stolen our money.
they are thieves.
