I have a one-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment at El Campo and for what I pay, it is much larger than anything else in the area. I haven't seen anything else this close to UT that is under $500/month. The neighbors are pretty quiet and the complex very close to a UT shuttle route. I'd say about half of the residents are students, and interestingly only about half of them speak English! Parking is NEVER a problem, visitors are welcome to park here. My garbage disposal has broken twice but both times, I have called immediately and left a voice message with the management, and it has been fixed within 24 hours. Also, sometimes when the neighbors are taking a shower at the same time as you, you have to "fight" over the hot water!!! This is a very old complex (from the 60's) but it isn't run down or anything. There's a pool and some lawn chairs but they are rarely used. Overall it is a great complex!!!
