English aire used to be a great place to live for college students and families seeking affordable, solid housing. I've been here for several years, and everything was fine until the economy crashed a few years back. Since then, the neighborhood has gone way downhill, crime is up (everything from carjackings to robbery, rape and shootings that take place within blocks of here).

Part of the reason I moved here in the first palce was the ADVERTISED security features such as gates all around and a night security guard, who used to be here every night of the week. Now that mgm't complains of money problems (gee, I wonder why they're so broke' My rent hasn't gone down any...'), they don't even bother to fix the gate anymore when it breaks. They just leave it wide open, where anybody can get inside. They fired the night security guard - now we don't have one at all. As a result, car break-ins have increased in our parking lot.

Big surprise there.

Also, the outside porch lights keep burning out, leaving entire buildings in the pitch dark at night. Everytime they say they have fixed the lights, they burn back out again within a week. Yeah, I feel REALLY safe here.

The apt. complex next door (Lafayette Landing) is a total hellhole, and full of very undesirable types who constantly scale our fence and break into our property.

The quality of tenants here has also gone way downhill in the past few years. Screening has gone out the window, and now they will pretty much rent to anybody - which means we are seeing a lot more of the criminal element living within our gates, not outside of them.

Just today, I came home to find two police cars parked in front of my building. They were straightening out a violent altercation between two next-door neighbors (in broad daylight, BTW). One of them had their screen torn off and the front window was smashed out. So now, I guess neighbors burglarize neighbors around here...that's NOT good.:(

English Aire is letting in a lot more trailer-park families, illegal aliens, and the rowdy type of college kids who party 7 nights a week on their balcony, which is located less than 5 feet from your bedroom window. These types of tenants cause property damage, and yet English aire does not seem to be hip to the idea that if you keep renting to folks like this, a vicious cycle of repairs is what will surely follow.

Overall, I would recommend staying away from English aire until they improve their security and screening measures for tenants. That is - unless you LOVE loud parties and having your car broken into regularly!:)

I agree with you regarding the sleeping security guard that lets people tailgate through without checking their credentials. LaFayette Landing is not E.A's fault however. The late night "7 day a week" parties really haven't been an issue for me. Seems fairly quiet around here. Other than that,I haven't lived here but about 3 1/2 months, so we'll see.
