Yo!

Worst experience ever in all of my 10 year rental history.

Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2006

I have been renting for 10 years now, having lived in at least a dozen of apartment complexes in 3 states and 5 cities. So, trust me, I do have renting experience.

Here it goes: Escalon apartments are the worst apartments I have ever lived in, no contest!
At the same time Escalon is one of the most expensive apartments I have lived in!

It is the worst mainly for the reason that is repeatedly mentioned here by other reviewers - cheap construction and, as a result:
- complete lack of soundproofing;
- vibration.

The noise problem just cannot be stressed enough.

It is so bad that makes living here practically unbearable. You can hear you neighbours from all sides loud and clear even when they speak in their normal voices.

I can't wait till my 6-month lease ends. I knew there was something fishy about Escalon, so I decided to sign the shortest lease possible, to see if my suspicions were correct, even though signing the shorter lease was significantly more expensive.
Of course, had I been smarter, I would have done some research first (by reading reviews on this site for one thing) and would have never signed the lease in the first place.
As a matter of fact, one leasing office associate (who will remain unnamed for now) tried to slip me (either on purpose or by honest mistake) a longer lease for signing by putting 12 months on the lease instead of 6. Luckily I spotted this in time and told her to redo the lease and put the agreed 6 month term on the lease.

I wanted to move out 3 weeks into my lease.
The only reason I have not by now is that I travel a lot and do not live in my apartment about quarter of the time.

In any case I gave the notice to vacate 3 months before the end of my lease, that is having done there only half of my (prison) term. So when my lease is over I am surely moving out of here.

My immediate neighbors are a mixture of white and black trash and mostly very young too. Apartments are by no means cheap but they let in a bunch of kids into one apartment for a long lease.

Such a "contingent" by no means improves the noise situation of course.

I will add to this review later after I am out of here, time permitting.
But for now take my free and honest advice, - keep looking. It is not worth it.
Knowing what I know now - I would not stay here even if I were paid to do so.

Escalon apartments look good on the outside, but living here is quite another experience. Be warned, and learn from others' mistakes not your own.
