Definitely the best place I've ever lived!

Years at this apartment: 2003 - 2004
When I was looking for an apartment this time last year, one of the leasing agents at another complex referred me to EQL. She had lived there before buying her house and said it was great. I totally agree. When I looked at the apartments, I liked the layout and they agreed to give me free covered parking if I signed my lease that day. I was happy to do so...
When I first moved in, there were a few things that had to be taken care of, but they were pretty quick about it. I soon learned that a call to the office wouldn't do anything what so ever. But when they have a face to put with the name and number, they take care of it right away. And I have to be vigilant about following up. If I've asked them to take care of replacing the lightbulb in my bathroom fan (since I don't have a ladder to do it myself), they usually don't have the bulb in stock -- just make sure you get an arrival date on the bulb and hold them to it! Working in a place that handles a lot of customers, I understand how things that aren't set-up for follow-up can get forgotten. And once the maintainence guy has come out once, they don't have any way to follow-up on a second trip.
I haven't had any problems with ants or bugs, since the complex has a service come in once a month and but gel bait inside the cabinets. I was concerned when I got a dog a few months back that it would be harmful to her, but I watched where the guy put the gel and she would have to be INSIDE the cabinet to get at it.
And when my AC started leaking water one Sunday at 2 in the morning, I had to call the pager service three times, but they finally got the guy to call me (I do feel sorry for waking him up but, geez, that's his job!) and let me know that he'd be out there at 8 in the morning. And he was. Right on time. He took care of fixing the leak and made sure that the carpet got replaced the next week. He even called me on Thursday to let me know when it would be replaced (it was supposed to be the day before) and that he would accompany the carpet guy into the apartment and make sure my dog didn't get out.
Overall, my experience has been great. I do wish that the trash compactor didn't get so full on the weekends (it doesn't really work very well -- that or people simply don't understand that they have to push the button!). And I get really really annoyed that the office doesn't return phone calls. Ever. But neither does any other complex I've lived at.
Would I recommend EQL' Actually, I just did to my best friend.
