A good apartment complex

The Falls on Bull Creek is a good place to live, and has been the best of the three apartments that I have rented. First, the prices are great. I'm renting a 700 sq. ft. apartment for $550 a month. The apartment is right by the Arboretum shopping center on one side and is nestled up against an established upper-middle class neighborhood on the other. The apartments also connect to the Bull Creek nature trails, which are a great place to walk after work. The inside of the apartment is very open and spacious, and most of the designs have several wall-size windows which look out on Bull Creek and the surrounding greenbelt.
Now on to the bad things. When I checked www.apartmentratings.com I was suprised to see all the negative reviews. Some of the things they mentioned: bad management, high electric bills, crime, and thin floors. I don't know what they're talking about with the management. Everyone I've talked with at the office has been unfailing polite, and I've never had to wait more than a minute or two for help. I had one or two maintenance issues and they fixed them quickly like they said they would. At my previous two apartments I always felt like the managment was looking down at me, like somehow I was wasting their time. Kinda like when you go to a coffee shop and aren't cool enough for the coffee-server. For the electric bills, mine have been fine. My last apartment was in Houston and had $140 bills, whereas the falls is usually $60-$80 a month. I think it helps that I live on the second story, so that my apartment is sandwhiched between two others. Lots of times I don't even turn on the AC since the neighboring apartments keep the temperature at a decent level. That could explain some of the other resident's high bills. :) Also, I would point out that all of the rooms have gigantic, wall sized windows, so these people shouldn't be too suprised when they have a high heating bill. It is the price you pay for having a great view in every room. For the crime and safety complaints, again, I don't know what these people are talking about. Besides the year and a half I spent at this complex, I lived for another 15 years in the neighborhood while growing up. It's a safe neighborhood. I've been walking around Bull Creek and the neighborhood and the Arboretum for 17 years total and have never felt unsafe at all. I think the worst you will run into here are some bored rich white kids smoking pot. As for the thin walls, yep, that is a problem. You can ask your neighbor to turn down his music (worked for me), but it if you are on the middle floor, you're bound to get some noise. May I suggest some Sennheiser head phones' It has always worked for me. Anyway, I was about to sign another 12 month lease when I found a better job in Houston. If you want to see some really bad apartments, try looking in downtown Houston. Yikes. Until then, don't be so harsh on the Fall. :)
