We have lived here for 2 years as well. We live on 3rd floor and have had the same problems with high electricity bills. At first I thought this was because our roof faced west...but after the whole summer of my AC running constantly from 12 noon to 12 midnight every day it still never got below 80 degrees in the Apt!! We had the maintenance come look at this multiple times. Don't get me wrong, the maintenance guys are great people, they are just constrained by the terrible management! Eventually one of my friends who happens to be a HVAC tech looked at the system and found out there was a vent leading into my apt somehow that was circulating outside air into the apt!!! I called this to the attention of the maintenance crew and the next day the AC was running just fine. After a month my elec bill dropped $80 in the middle of the summer!. The management blamed the vent problem on Austin Energy and told us to take up the electricity bill difference with them. By the way, this is a known problem with multiple units within this complex, so if your elec bill is really high and you can't regulate your temp inside it might be a good idea to have them check it out. This came right from the mouth of the Maintenance supervisor for the Bethany group in central texas. My family will most likely stay here a little longer if only for the great location and low price for the area. I definately see this complex taking a nose dive from the lack of proper management. The office workers are mostly respectable, but the management is straight out of a trailer park and needs to go back!
