I've lived here for only a few months and can sympathize with some of the complaints, but again, this is par for the course when you want affordable, apartment housing.
When I first came to look at the property I was totally turned off by the appearance of the highway side of the complex. But when we took the tour with the management (who have not dissapointed us yet)I saw there was much more to the property.
I live in a unit on "the creek side" as opposed to what I refer to as the highway side and I really like it! We have lots of trees and an open grass area with barbeque pits. If you want a good experience here, be sure to get an unit on this side. No highway noise, no parking lot noise and less oppourtunity for crime.
Because the units are so close and stacked, you can hear your neighbors pretty well if your windows are open, but the neighbors I have met around here are nice people. Mostly young adults. Few families.
overall, it's:
-a great place for people with dogs
-great ambience if you live on the creek side
-affordable
And it's a really short bike ride to South Congress, HEB, a library, bank and Amy's!

Sure, it is a great place to live considering the location. The creekside USED to be much prettier AND safer. This is what we used to say when we first moved in but after years of watching this place decline in many ways it is heartbreaking to see what we considered to be our home become our "hell". People ARE nice here for the most part. We have been friends with many of our neighbors and were sad to see them go. So, yes, we agree with most of what you wrote with the exception of you not having lived here long enough to form an educated opinion.
