I lived at the Gables Town Lake for 2 years and you can't beat the location. It is super close to downtown, without the extra hassles of living downtown. It is also very safe. I could come home late at all hours and not have to worry about sketchy people or car break ins. Maintenance requests and other issues are also handled well by office staff.
What I did not like about Gables is the astronomical cost of rent for the amount of space you get and it is always going up. The fixtures and cabinetry could use updating, unless you like gold brass. The worst thing is that unless your air/heat are on at all times, you can Always hear your neighbors. You can hear them walking around, talking on the phone, opening drawers and even when they are using the bathroom!! If they have a party, forget it! One time, my upstairs neighbor sneezed and I felt I should say "bless you" since I could hear him so well. I would definitely invest in a white noise machine in you plan to live here! Overall, I enjoyed my time here but couldn't afford it anymore.
