great from the outside...

The first year I lived here, every thing was pretty much great- close to the UT campus (not on the bus route- annoying) and close to the mall. The only problem was a couple large scorpions and spiders got in our apt because the weathering on the doors is damaged and the cabinets in the kitchen are too small for dinner plates (saw this in another review- the cabinets are always cracked open a few inches because they're too small for plates. Minor problems compared to what it's like now. The entire first year we never saw a car being towed. Now we see at least one or two cars being towed a night. Our new neighbors are no longer college students/young professionals, but famililes with toddlers and young kids that scream and run their bikes into our front door and bang on our walls. Some of the office staff are really nice and helpful, while other have horrible attitudes and are condescending. The maintenance people are great- that's basically the only thing good here these days. The pools had a bunch of leaves at the bottom all summer. The PARKING- good lord, it's heinous. I know exactly what the other reviewer was talking about. I really get excited when there is a spot close to my building. Usually we are forced to park in the visitor lot pretty far away because there are no spots any time after 4pm. Parking is absolutely horrible now. There are few lights in the parking lots, so I don't feel safe walking all the way from the visitor lot to my place without my fiance. We picked this place because they allow large dogs, but we cannot wait to move into a house and get out of here. Also- they decided to switch from Grande to Time Warner, giving us about 30 days to switch over and get new cable, phone, & internet services. We are going to have to pay at least $65 more a month because of the switch- since we had a great deal with Grande. The place went downhill, the rent is high and not worth it anymore. Don't be fooled when you do a walk-through looking at the place, it looks/sounds great from the outside- trust me after a year and a half, it's not worth it at all.
