I just moved out after signing a 14 month lease. I would say that this apartment complex is highly, highly overpriced for what you get. Here are a few pros and cons
Pros:
- attractive location- convenient to downtown, zilker park, William Cannon
- nice clubhouse/pool- nice layout
- nice walking trail (about 1 mile long)
- online payments/ repair orders -convenient when your out of town and need to pay rent
Cons:
- NO FREAKING PARKING ANYWHERE!! unless you pay an extra $70 a month or don't work during the day, you have almost zero chance of parking within 100 yards of your apartment. Be prepared to walk a lot.
- Dog crap all over the place. They have "pet stations", but nobody uses them. Watch your step if you walk in the grass. People with small dogs let them crap in the driveways
- watchout for the extras. The office people love to find ways to add $15 here and $30 dollars there. They tried to force me to use the garbage valet for $30 a month even though it wasn't in my lease and my building was across from the dumpster. They put a garbage can outside my door which I didn't want, then threatened to fine me if I didn't move it inside. No thanks.
- Entry gate was broken and out of service more than half the time I was there.
Overall, watch out if you choose to live here. Things are all smiles and look great when your looking here, but once you sign that lease they could care less about you.

Ha, we had the exact same experience with the crappy "Garbage Valet" service. We also didn't want this, and they refused to take the can back even though we put a big note on it saying we didn't want it. We ended up having to waste storage space just to keep the trash can in the closet.

I live in another Gables complex and had the same problem with Valet Trash. I'm single (it takes me two weeks to fill up a trash bag) and live right across from the dumpster, yet they want $30/month for the service and don't let you opt-out. To make things worse, every time I put out my valet trash container (which is rarely because I work nights and am unable to pull the can back in before fining starts) the service has NEVER picked up the trash!!! It is beyond ridiculous.
