I first moved into Great Hills in March 2005, shortly after Amli sold it to Northland. The management at the complex was great (mind you, here I'm talking about the management right after the transfer of ownership). They knew you and knew what they were doing. They would follow up on maintenance requests and had a policy that if it wasn't fixed within 48 hours, your rent would be free until they fixed it. That was an old Amli rule that later was discarded. All of a sudden at the beginning of 2006 they got rid of all the old staff and brought in new management. NOT an improvement, and the office staff ended up being a revolving door with temps or dingy girls who didn't know what they were doing. Raised the rent but didn't keep up with the maintenance of the property. And like everyone else said... they stopped accepting packages. I've never heard of a complex doing that - and it was VERY inconvenient since I got married last year and had lots of packages being delivered. I was driving out to UPS (mind you that's about 10-15 miles out) several times a week to get packages before or after work.
The worst part was when I moved out, they told me I didn't have to schedule carpet cleaners because I had lived there more than 12 months, so they would do that for me. Well, that apparently gave them the liberty to claim that a small stain on the carpet couldn't be removed with regular carpet cleaning (I've never heard of that being the case - professional carpet cleaning can get practically anything out), so they ripped out the entire carpet (in the entire apartment, mind you) and sent me a bill for almost $800. (no, I'm not paying it). STAY AWAY!

Manager's Response

Unfortunately it is hard to please everyone. We certainly can understand your frustration regarding the packages no longer coming to the office. We recommend your packages be left with a neighbor you trust or sent to your workplace. Varying companies offer different rules and services. Amli did have different programs and services from Northland. Service Requests are responded to within 48 hours unless it is an emergency. Any stains beyond a carpet cleaned are charged back to the resident upon move out. This is standard for anyone renting at a community. If damages are noted at move in, the resident moving out is not charged.

I had the same issue. They said there was pet odor yet...I never had a pet. They couldn't get it out or whatever and had to replace the carpet. I'm dealing with them right now and they are a pain. What did you do? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!
