One of the worst apartments I ever lived in

We moved here long distance, after meeting once with very courteous resident manager.
The day we moved in, the apartment was very dirty. The carpet was stained. And guess what, there were no washer and dryer in the unit, although our contract said otherwise. After the first week, they got us a new washer and dryer. Thank you very much!!
We were on the ground floor, infested with bugs, and water, when it rained. Noisy neighbor upstairs - made complaints, but nothing happened.
There were security gates in the complex, but half the time we lived there, the gate was not working, so was left open. Just imagine how secured we felt!!
Residents pay for the water, but I was sometimes surprised to see the amount on the bill. I couldn?t imagine how a working couple can use that much water, were we paying for the apartment sprinkler system' God knows...
Parking was free, but they charged $40 for assigned carports. The trash bin was full and all over the road most of the time.
The real joke was after we left. We lived there for 6 months, no pets, no children. They took all our deposit saying they needed to clean stained carpets (see above - the carpet was full of stain when we moved in), oven tops (we hardly cooked), bathroom (we are very clean people!), and some totally made up stuffs. I tried calling the manager, but was told that the person who did the walkthrough is on vacation, and will be back next week. Called next week, and left a message. Did not hear back for next 2 weeks. Called again, and left a message, again did not hear for another 2 weeks. Being frustrated, I called again, and demanded to talk to her the same day. She called back, but was very rude. I decided to just forget about the deposit, it was not worth fighting over a few hundred dollars.
Our advice to you - STAY AWAY FROM GABLES GREAT HILLS!!!
