2 happy years

Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2006
As they raise the rent much every year, I could not afford anymore and moved out recently. However, I am missing this place.
The property is near Arboretum yet away from busy roads, not very crowded with buildings, but full of trees. There is a trail in the property and a small natural park behind it.
The friendly management is remarkable. In 2004, manager Shelley showed me the model twice and helped me measuring the rooms. She was very nice and even chatted with my 12-year kid in the receptions Gables gave. In 2005, manager Summer was less enthusiastic to chat but still reasonable and polite. Now the new manager Tony is also very friendly. As she was busy when I was scheduled to talk about the rate of renewal, I missed the appointment with her and hence the deadline of moving-out notice by 2-3 days. She could have charged me for extra days, but she didn't. That was very reasonable.
All the staff is very nice. I had never heard any discouraging words from any one of them, including Jason, other current staff (they come and go frequently), and former members Tracy and Noel. Jason is especially very professional and courteous, always smiling and asking what they could do to improve. Once I said the exterior side of my windows were dirty and he had them cleaned in a couple of days. In 2004, My neighbor downstairs complained about my 9-year-old boy jumping and making noise, so Shelley or Tracy wrote a polite notice to me. I think that was helpful.
The maintenance team is very responsive. Twice I found my air conditioner (old) needing a recharge and they did twice within hours. My disposal was clogged (now I know hot water can wash it) and they cleaned it in a day. My ceiling fan was wobbling and they balanced it in a day. These are all I had in 2 years.
In the contract they require written repair notice but in reality as soon as I mentioned verbally they took notes and worked on it right away.
I had no other complaints except for poor sound insulation and short dealine for moving-out notice (5 days after their renewal notice with new rate, in which one has to do all the new apartment shopping, but they require 60 days notice on the other hand-- very unfair, but perhaps most apartments do the same).
My advice is, if you don't mind the old building/appliance and quite-high price, this is a good place to live.
