DO NOT MOVE IN HERE! This is a complete joke.
I'm moving out 6 weeks prior to when my lease is up. So I'm paying for one month's (plus) rent even though I will not be here. That's fine. I agreed to a fixed month lease.
However, I just found out that I am required by my lease to leave the utilities in my name through the end of my lease!
WTF' Why would this matter' If I'm not physically in the apartment (or state for that matter), why would I not be able to turn of utilities' Any of them'
Something is very, very wrong with this. Clearly, these folks are shady. While I fully agree I should pay rent for as long as my lease whether I'm here or not, I should be able to turn off my utilities.
DO NOT MOVE IN HERE!

Dude,
You agreed to live there for that time. During that time you are required to have electricity including cooling and heat. When you move out, the complex takes over.
Since you don't seem to understand, remember those houses in New Orleans that didn't have electricity for a month? Mold.
Its actually standard in most TAA leases.
