Nice place to live

Overall, I really liked living here. I moved in when Gables was still managing the property. Never had any issues with them. When the new management company took over, there wasn't really any change. The office staff was very friendly and helpful, although they seemed to have a high turnover for a while.
The only issue I had with the staff happened when I lost my job and had to break my lease. I work in the industry and understand that the lease is a binding document, but one of the staff members told me that residents on the old Gables leases (which I was) were being let out with a 30 day notice. As she was preparing my move out notice, the manager walked up and informed me that they had changed their policy, and I wouldn't be allowed out of my lease. I was just very frustrated at the general lack of communication that seemed to be occuring as the management company tried to get a new staff in place.
I never had any issues with maintenance. I never really needed anything major fixed in the apartment, but when I needed routine maitenance, it was always done promptly. I actually did have an issue with my washer at one point, and they replaced it with a new one the same day. And I'm sure anyone reading this knows, finding a place that includes washers/dryers for a reasonable price in Austin can be difficult. That was one of the things I loved most about this place.
The location was wonderful. Close to everything (HEB, Blockbuster, Taco Bell, The Arboretum), yet located far enough away from Jollyville to make you feel like you weren't right in the middle of the city.
The fitness center was really small, and I only used it once, but they moved it to the old laundry room and got new equipment, so it's much bigger and nicer. The pools were fantastic. Never very crowded and surrounded by trees (at least the pool on my side of the property). Very nice place to relax.
Had I not lost my job, I wouldn't have moved. They were doing some really nice upgrades to the apartments and I wanted to transfer. I would definitely move back!
