Got broken into - staff ignored the problem

Facilities look nice, but staff is unorganized, unhelpful, unapologetic. They swore they replaced our light bulbs for us, but two of them were still out after 3 months of asking. Over Christmas, our apartment was broken into. We had to provide them with our police report twice because they lost it the first time. When we asked them to replace our broken doorjamb (from the break in), they felt a couple screws was good enough. When we asked them to alert the neighbors and improve security, they said it was not their problem. Apparently if you have pets, they automatically charge you $50 for carpet cleaning on top of the non-refundable pet deposit that was not in our contract. Walls are thin; we had problems hearing our neighbors' music and they had problems when we had children visiting. All parking is for compact cars and in TX you're surrounded by trucks and SUVs, which made parking a problem. Location- it's far enough away from everything to be annoying and the views aren't good enough to justify. Community- people mostly keep to themselves; it's not a friendly/ welcoming place. Way overpriced; you can find comparable apts at much less expensive rates within 2 miles. The latest management doesn't have our security deposit on file, and they won't accept our bank records, so we've been cheated out of hundreds of dollars. Besides the staff, it was a fine apartment, but that stuff makes this place a zero in our book. We will never rent from Greystar again.

I appreciate you voicing your concerns and wanted to address your issue. I understand you are unsatisfied with how we responded to your isolated break in. As I explained to you our claims department found the break in while you had a house sitter to be personal and not a random act. As you and the police report stated nothing was stolen or missing, therefore we found no need to cause alarm to the community. I also explained to you on the phone last week your paperwork has never changed nor does it change with owner or management changes. I offered to have copies made and was happy to fax your original application and lease agreement where it stated your original fees paid. Nothing has been lost or misplaced, nor was presenting us with bank statements mentioned. I have in the past and will be happy to accept proof of a canceled check from your bank stating the amount of deposit paid. It is my goal as the property manager to provide everyone with an equal and fair residency. Thank you - Hudson Miramont Manager

I find it interesting you want to address our issue now, when you have negative feedback, but you did not even acknowledge there was an issue while we were paying our rent. I also find it interesting that you find people not picking up after their dogs cause for a community-wide flyer, but a break-in does not even warrant a new doorjamb or a response to us on what you intend to do, let alone the community. It was only after 4 weeks and repeated phone calls that you finally told us you intended to do... nothing. The joy of requiring money orders for the deposit is that you do not have a canceled check. Our bad for not requiring Hudson to make us a copy. Showing bank records of the withdrawal were unsatisfactory for you, which I admit, is reasonable. Your silence regarding our other concerns is damning, in my opinion. I'm just glad it's not my concern anymore. Let future buyers beware.

i can tell this is a real complaint. you even got the manager to reply. bravo to you. haha. so you had a house-sitter and when you returned you were broken into but nothing was stolen and there was no damage in the apartment. sounds like you need to question the house-sitter. why cause alarm at your business for an incident that sounds pretty isolated. doesn't look like anyone else complained of being broken into before or after. take a clue, kitt, you should check your friend that watched your place. that is too fishy. we are in some hard times and that causes for desperate measure.
