I can't wait for my lease to be up. I made the mistake of turning in my move out notice 5 days late (they require 60 days), so they are charging me an extra $100 to move out. Considering I am in an efficiency with a rent of $440, this is particularly absurd. I feel sorry for anyone in a normal size apartment. They don't care that I am on disability and can't afford to pay a quarter of a month's rent just to be free from this hole.

Furthermore, they are now requiring all tenants to get renter's insurance in THEIR name. That's right. If your apartment catches fire, and you lose everything you own, International Residence Apartments gets paid for it. I find this particularly disturbing since the laundry room caught fire two months ago and has not yet been repaired, but they have begun painting the whole complex an ugly shade of mustard. Why can they afford this cosmetic nightmare when there is such a glaring maintenance problem'

I have personally witnessed multiple drug deals, seen a car get stolen, and heard gunshots twice. I was harassed by a group of young men once. There are sex offenders living here, and a LOT of kids. There are MAJOR bug problems. The parking lot is a tiny little maze. You can't walk to the mailbox without going through a minefield of dog poop. My carpet is as rundown as it can be and still have any texture to it. The efficiency comes with a mini fridge and NO freezer. The AC runs 24/7 (imagine the electric bill) and never gets under 78 degrees. Chunks of the paint fall from my ceiling every time the upstairs neighbors do anything. The electricity goes out every time there is a storm, sometimes for as long as two days. The cable/internet is contracted to Grande, so you can't choose another company, and have to just accept that you will have no internet for days at a time.

Yeah, this place is dirt cheap. You get what you pay for, and you will more than pay for it by the time your lease is up.

Man, I really didn't have the experience that you had with the actual apartment because mine was pretty well updated before I moved in. I just moved out of it so I am really glad to be out of there. Poor thing. I am so sorry that happened to you. I have to agree with the drug deals, sexual harassment, and sexual predators. I have seen all of this and did a search for sexual preditors online. There was one living in the building right next door and I have a small baby! The response that I get from management is that she didn't know what was going on. When I told her, the excuse was that the neighbors come to the apartment complex and cause trouble. I doubt seriously that they do any background checks at this place at all. Basically what it boils down to is that they have to make sure these apartments are filled and since there are so many, they will take whoever they can get to occupy them and make a profit even if the resident is absolutely horrible. The pool was vandalized!!! HELLO!! That'll tell you something right there. Then there was once a swat team who came through the parking lot with M16's and said get back in your apartment. MANAGEMENT, THIS SHOULD BE A WAKE UP CALL!!!
