No lies...all truth

Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2007
My family and I have lived here for a while over a year. I have come to realize that moving here was not a good investment. When I first arrived I saw a sign that said "The best kept secret in Austin", I could believe it because they were hard to locate. When we came to view an apartment, they showed us their model. It was beautiful, I mean that's how they get you! I was so ready to move in I paid 1 month in advance and a deposit of $200.00 along with a application fee of $35.00. When we moved in, our apartment had not been cleaned properly, the floor hadn't been shampooed, the cabinet had the last tenants food there, the refrigerator stunk and that was just the begining of the nightmare. Then I started to notice ants..."oh they're only sugar ants and not aggressive" was what I was told. I had them in my kitchen covering the counter...so I never left food there scared that more would come, on top of my refrigerator where I use to keep my cereal, on the stove...you'd think since is was hot they wouldn't come....they were bold, in my kids bathroom, in our bathroom....if you cleaned out the tub after bathing.....you'd have to clean it out again because about 30 ants would be in there after you got out. I even had them on my walls, in my bed, and sometimes my clothes...it was horrible! But again, that was just the begining. It started to smell in my kitchen....I knew it wasn't anything I could do...I had use drano....put lemons down my disposal and let the smell of the lemon peels take over...but nothing worked. I then called maintenace, can you believe they put bleach down the sink....you may ask....did it get rid of the smell....no...not even a little bit. It is affordable, but don't have a paycheck that comes on the second instead of the 1st. There are no grace periods. If you are paying $800.00 in rent be ready to pay $1200.00 because your rent goes up and you have late fees. There has been so much to go on here....I think it's a nice neighborhood, but I think that the apartments have more problems then what they are worth. They were built in the 1980's and they have never been renovated. Yes, we have some of the original things from the 1980's in most of the apartment...and they are failing. We have about 7 child rapist in the apartments...which I recently found out about. The people over here drive like maniacs even when children are out playing. The managers of the complex are so unorganized....it like you have to remind them about issues in your apartments rather than them checking back with you to see what the status was. If it wasn't fixed...guess what now you have to fill out a new maintenance request and wait for this one to get results. We are very unhappy, So, I am not going to tell anyone to not move here...but I will say if you don't mind all these problems and many more to come then you don't have a problem moving here.
