Years at this apartment: 2008 - 2009
So, I'm the one that wrote the review titled "overrated". I wrote it because my bathtub and toilet backed up three times, and my bathroom flooded once. One of those times feces and other raw sewage backed up into my bathtub. To add insult to injury, the staff tried to blame my roommate and I by accusing us of flushing towels down the toilet. Yes...somehow we stuffed towels in the toilet and flushed them. Then, they blamed our upstairs neighbors. When I asked them to go talk to our neighbors to see if they were the problem, they did two things: they called them once and left one note on their door. After that, they gave up trying even though I was still having plumbing problems. All that is detailed in that previous review.
This all happened within the first two months of living at Juniper Springs. Fast forward to June. I've just graduated and my roommate is still looking for a full-time job, our plans are very up in the air. We've had further problems at Juniper (ie lots of roaches), but haven't really made a big deal about any of them. Just read the other reviews (the ones not written by the staff at Juniper). Anyway, my roommate and I decided to ask for an extension so that we can have time to get our plans into place and then move on to another apartment. We're told no by Juniper and they send a letter saying we need to move out by August 31st. When we ask the staff about this, they say they've already rented out our apartment specifically. Roommate and I go look for another place. We find another place and they have Juniper send them our rental history. According to Juniper Springs, my roommate and I were asked to vacate due to "problems with staff". Luckily, the new apartment complex finds this hilarious because they say this means someone at Juniper has a "personal problem" with us. Also, consider the fact that most people are asked to leave for: a.)not paying rent, b.)causing major damages, and/or c.)violating the terms of the lease... not for "problems with the staff".
My roommate and I just want our deposit back from Juniper, so we decide not to make trouble since we're already moving out anyway. After we moved out and spent a day cleaning the apartment, we decide to do a walk through the apartment with one of the staff so we can see what "damages" we're going to be charged for. The staff member is being nit picky to the point that it's ridiculous. I was being charged for ONE bobby pin that I accidentally missed on a shelf and for "hair on the floor".
Since it looks like we can say good-bye to our deposit, I finally ask the the staff member what "problems with the staff" we had. Here's the kicker: She said that we said "mean things" about her on the internet. Then she told us she saw what was posted on apartmentratings.com. Since we weren't happy with the staff, then they made the decision that we shouldn't live there anymore. Consider that a.) my roommate and I always pay our rent, b.) haven't had problems with the staff since the bathroom incident, and c.) that we're the tenants NOT the friends of Juniper Springs. Seriously, I haven't heard someone say that they're mad at me because I said "mean things" about them since I was in elementary school. To hear this from a so-called professional is ridiculous.
Moral of the story: DO NOT post on Apartment Ratings if you would like to stay in your place at Juniper Springs and if you would like to keep your rental history free of "asked to leave because of problems with staff."
