Good apartment complex, worth trying.

It's definitely worth giving this place a try. It was my favorite apartment in Austin. I lived here from May 2006 - March 2008.
The rent is affordable ($650 for 1bd, 700 sq, with pergo floors). The complex is adorable. It's on a great bus route (3), in a great location, there are many laundry rooms, you can paint your walls, the neighbors are great, and the courtyards are lovely.
That being said, past reviews are correct: the water pressure, depending on your apt, may be a problem. I had terrible water pressure, but I knew two other residents who had fanTAStic water pressure. I only paid $650 a month, so I was okay with it.
The maintenance folks come quick and they do a great job.
For a while they had a pretty crazy manager. Like, completely insane. However, as of 2008, they had a new manager who was quite pleasant to deal with and totally sane. I edited my review to remove mention of the former manager.
When I moved out, they were very reasonable, and didn't even paint over everything. I was REIMBURSED like $80. It was totally respectable and NOT shady.
If you ever do have a problem, the management company itself, Rainier, is worth calling. I spoke to the Manager of Residential Operations who was very apologetic about what I've experienced with the former complex manager, and addressed the problems I came to her with. I strongly recommend folks call Rainier and give them the heads up about any problems with the complex management, and I think you'll be fine. I was actually really impressed with how the woman at Rainier handled my concerns and I saw a HUGE improvement. So just call Rainier with problems with the office!
