DITTO ON THE PRICE GOUGING! READ THIS!

I don't think I would even go as far as to say that the grounds keeping was even good (often flooded during rains). These apartments sucked on so many levels. Maintenance was lackluster. Management there changed 3 times for the year and a half we were there. We had sugar ants. There was the constatnt drone of near-by construction and USHwy 183. And we too were given a bill for OVER $300 after our move out for a bunch of piddly-ass and trumped up charges.
Noise was a big problem. People would be out at the pool until late on WEEKNIGHTS! Several of the tenants there were of a dubious nature. And for noise complaints, since the apartments had a non-existant patrol, we called 911 for our problems no less than a dozen times! Our complaints to the management fell on deaf ears.
We've moved on, and found a MUCH BETTER locally-owned complex where we have been now for the past year. (Unfortunately, it is not featured on this site. We'll let you figure out the secret.)
Our recommendation for finding a decent apartment in Austin...well, reconsider moving to Austin. But if you have to live here...
1. Don't do Equity Properties. In fact, try to stay away from corperate-owned apartments, period.
2. The Austin Police Department has a page on their site where you can look up an apartment's police call outs for that year. USE THIS, AND, YES, BE PREJUDICED. This was a MAJOR tool in our hunting process, and you would be amazed at the number of call-outs for the larger, corperate-owned complexes.
3. Try not to go through apartment locators if you can help it. Most are in cahoots with (yes, I'm sorry to mention it again) the corperate-owned apartments.
But back to the real subject, avoid Keystone like the plague!
