My God...I have never lived in a more nasty place in my life.
FILTH: The day I moved in the unit was crawling with roaches. After having an exterminator come every two weeks, it took over 3 months to get rid of them, apparently because the entire building has them and they just keep spreading.
CRIME: Even though they "do not allow felons to live here" there are 4...count them 4...sex offenders at this address, most of them against children. My car was broken into. Someone was jumped outside my door on Christmas night because he witnessed a crime. I have had men knocking at my door at all hours of the morning asking for money or drugs. I dont even have a porch light so I could see who it was and give a description to the police. Someone even tried to steal my dog!
There is hardly any parking and if you dont have a permit, they will tow you. Guests are asked to park in the 4-5 available spots in the front so that every criminal that walks by can have access to it.
MAINTENANCE: I have never seen the pool clean enough for someone to swim in. Maintenance does not respond to any requests until you call them 3 or 4 times...no exaggerating. Management's solution - give them a "written request". Even if you do that, you have to give them at least 2 in writing. I went without hot water for 2 weeks and had to shower at work. I was told there was no hot water for me because the entire complex shres 3 water heaters. Sounds like a problem.
My apartment flooded, not once but twice and I was told it was because I was flushing sanitary napkins - even though I am 7 months pregnant and don't use those. Also, if the water is coming from the ceiling, how is it caused by the toilet' Because of the flooding, mold began to grow in the bathroom. Instead of replacing the moldy sheetrock like they said, they only covered it with a layer of plaster. Two months later, the moldy cabinet is still hanging above the toilet.
MANAGEMENT: The staff is the worst I have ever met...rude and defensive. Contacting the corporate office didn't even help. When confronted with pictures of the work, and proof that they were in default of the lease, management decided to let me out of my lease only 3 months into it, yet immediately refused to return my deposit, even though I hadn't moved out and they had no reason to keep it yet as they did not know the condition of the unit. I will be taking them to court soon.
MY ADVICE: Make sure you put everything to management in writing and everything from them ask for in writing so you have proof later on when they deny the things they promised. Keep your lease and read through it very carefully. Thats how I managed to get out of this nasty place before I have my baby. Good luck!
