March 2004 and it is time to move on...

Years at this apartment: 1999 - 2004
I have lived here since 1999. Last year I wrote a review "The good, the bad...." Since last year parking has become a problem because the lights have not been replaced between buildings #1 and #19 and at the end of #13---actually lighting is scarce all over this place---and cars are broken into with frequency.
In the past five years I have lived here this has gone from a CLEAN complex with livable issues to a DIRTY complex with intolerable issues. The crisper in my refrigerator has been broken since I moved in, I have a 3X3 unpainted patch in my ceiling from a pipe that burst in November 2002 (there was another unpainted repair that had to be redone because it was patched so poorly).
Water problems plague this place because it is old and because we share a boiler. While those problems are not within the control of the owners or the managers the trash is. There are the same number of workers here that were here before this management team arrived. Under the two or three previous managers the maintainence men rode around on the golf cart picking up trash while dealing with all the other maintainence issues. Now they ride past or walk past pieces and piles of trash.
I hope to move this summer. I live in a 1 bedroom and in the end apartment with my longest wall facing north. My utility bills have run as high as $150 in the summer and that is with the thermostat kept at 78 degrees to 82 degrees. There are times when the summer nights are cooler than the indoor temperature in my unit.
If you want to live in a clean, well maintained, safe complex avoid this place. I would not recommend this place to any woman who comes home after 11:00PM. Check out the APD website for the crimes at this unit before you consider living here. If that doesnt deter you walk around and in between the buildings to see the trash around all the buildings. Check out the broken glass from the car windows that were broken the night before, then drive around after dark and see the total lack of lighting all around this place, then stay on site a while and watch the people who come and go before you sign on the dotted line.
