I moved here in September and so far I really like it. The complex is quiet, the office staff is very friendly and they do in fact make you feel like part of a family. In response to the previous post, it is the exact opposite of what has been my experience. I too, am not employed right now and had no problems renting or getting into the complex.
The maintenance staff is superb. I have never lived anywhere where the requests are taken care of on the same day and with such friendly and prompt service.
Although the apartments are a little old compared to some of the newer, shinier models, they are very well built, quiet, and very spacious compared to elsewhere in other areas of the country.
I have yet to find the poop problem some people mentioned. Although I do have a dog and pick up after him, of course anywhere there are going to be those who don't. It's very minimal here compared to other places I have seen. If any of you offenders who don't pick up your dog's poop are reading this - please get a bag and pick it up!
Overall, this is a good place to live and the staff makes it a wonderful community. The grounds are well kept and the dumpsters are emptied regularly. I would definitely recommend it.

Good to know you had no problems renting at Laurel Woods even though you are not employed. I wonder why I was asked to pay the rent for the entire lease term before I could move in. Looks like they don't have the same set of rules for everyone who wishes to rent there.

I notified Allison about "dog poop" on the property. The problem was handled swiftly and there has been no sighting since then. Thank you, Allison!

What? You were asked to pay the entire lease in rent? I find that EXTREMELY hard to believe. Especially because when you pay your entire lease contract it makes it much *harder* on the office staff to keep up with! Maybe this was an issue of miscommunication. And if you are unemployed without income, yes the office staff is going to be skeptical about renting to you! Rent requirements (BY LAW)state that you need to make three times the monthly rent amount, to make sure that you are capable of paying your rent.
