Not very nice...

I lived at this apartment for one year. I chose Le Med because it was only $609 for a two bedroom which is the best deal I could find. However, my rent is scheduled to go up to $699 at the end of May so I'm definitely leaving. I could live somewhere much nicer for $700 a month...
My relationship with this apartment manager got off to a very bad start when I went to the office to pay my first month's rent and the office manager Steve started asking me where I was working. He was very condescending and rude. He talked to me like I was a young stupid college student.
I have many complaints about the maintenance. I was told I would have new carpet when I moved in, but this was not the case, and for the first month I lived there I could not walk around barefoot without my feet turning black.
The dishwasher broke (it is extrememly old) and I was told that I would get a new one. After waiting more than a week, I had a notice on the door that they had simply replaced the timer on the dishwasher and I would not be getting a new one. I could never use the ceiling fans because they were so creaky and noisy.
At one point, I started noticing water leaking from the ceiling in my bathroom. This was causing the wall to crack and turn black. I told the manager about it but he would not fix it. I then called the city of Austin who sent a building inspector to look at it. He said this was definitely a health and safety violation and gave the manager three days to fix it.
The walls are pretty thin and I could often hear my next door neighbors and the people above me. I could even hear their toilets flushing.
The only good thing about this apartment is the location. But it's so old and falling apart, I don't think even the location can redeem it. Especially with the rent going up so high.

I can't agree more with you. Still I think a different landlord and better maintenance would make this a nicer place to live. Basic things that need to be fixed or replaced are either not replaced or fixed cheaply, just enough to keep them barely running. Like the ceiling fans, same situation in my case. It is amazing that you had to go to the extent of calling a city building inspector to get your wall fixed. Hope you are in a better apartment now. Steve is just plain retarded. |
