Years at this apartment: 2002 - 2003
I have never lived at Legacy. But we were quoted a rent rate over the phone, took time off to see the property, etc etc.
After spending considerable time checking out the apartment, filling out paperwork, etc., I come to find out our rent would actually be more than $200.00 higher than what was quoted.
The salesman/staff fellow said: "I made a mistake -- that special ended yesterday."
I said: "And you knew that four hours ago -- you were expecting me to find out about the real rent when I went to sign the lease'"
He said, smoothly: "Oral promises aren't binding in the state of Texas."
And on it went. Real disturbing. Real DISGUSTING.

The Tenant's Association said they get calls about this all the time (the person I spoke with didn't know if the complaints were specifically about this particular complex). He said I should have told the Apartment manager I was going to the Attorney General.
I said that I had said that, but that the reaction was pretty cold. The Tenant's Assoc. guy said: "Actually, the Attorney General is pretty useless in this state with this kind of stuff: tenant's rights. And the people who know that better than anyone are the apartments who abuse people."

Everyone in the office was so smooth about their "little mistake" that it certainly seemed like this was something they'd been through before -- a way to trick people into giving notice on another apt. & then being forced to accept higher rent at Legacy Western Oaks'
