The staff is nice and the layout is good, appliances even work (albeit they are old), but I had college neighbors (weekday parties till 4AM when I had to work at 6AM) and my car was broken into several times in a 5-month span. It was more the location than the apartment itself that made me run to the WEST side of I-35 the very second that my lease was up. Do not park here with an after-factory stereo, you will not have it for long (mine was stolen within the first week that I lived there). This is a fairly high crime area compared to what I am used to with my house. There is a LOT of low-income housing down the street. Beware. I even had someone come up to me while I was walking my dog because her ex-husband stole her CHILD and they were looking for him. They were from an equal housing complex on Wickersham.
One thing that really bothered me is that other dog owners were very incosiderate and did not scoop after their dogs. Many also did not use leashes. I always carry grocery bags (they're free, how hard is it''') and keep my dog on-leash. Where I am from, there is a hefty fine associated with leaving dog litter, plus, that is completely disrespectful to the neighbors. I moved to a complex in SW Austin that had trash cans and bio-degradable doggie bags in all the grassy areas, and there was hardly any dog poop to deal with. They should definitely look into something like that.
And whoever said the grounds keeper blows ALL the lawn clippings to the first floor patio, you lived here for sure. It was impossible to keep it clean outside, and my welcome mat was always blown into the yard or under the staircase.
