Not all "deposits" are refundable. You should inquire which type you are paying at the time of your application. remember too that the apartment is expected to be in clean condition and of good mechanical repair when you vacate. It is important to inquire about fees before you vacate to give yourself time to fix any issues that may arise. If management has to spend more than anticipated cleaning up after a resident they will charge for the difference. It's as fair as a hotel billing missing mini-bar items.
