I've written a review already and came to check back in to see if things are any better....
Seems like it's about the same.
To those who are posting and questioning the negative comments - saying they are fake...
I assure you - NOT FAKE.

My daughter's boyfriend was the first to arrive to the aid of the girl who was beaten and robbed in the parking lot next to her apartment. She was flush with cash since she had just cashed her paycheck and was about to pay her LONGHORN LANDING rent and for some textbooks she had been waiting to be able to afford.
Her face was a mess and she didn't know how she was going to replace her stolen money. All he could do was protect her and console her until the police and paramedics could get to her...
He noticed the gate was open (as usual) and people were jumping fences (as usual) while sitting there with her.
This robbery could have happened to any one of the residents.

I received many phone calls from my daughter in the middle of the night...
- Scared because some guy was pounding on her door telling her to sell him drugs.
- A couple of other times scared because she called the apt. security about the young men breaking into cars under her window - and she thought they saw her looking down at them and would they come up and hurt her' I waited on the phone with her until apt. cops showed up - too long in my opinion)
- Exhausted not getting sleep because of the loud parties...
.. she is an engineering student and studies hard, has brutally hard exams and NEEDS to study her a** off and she NEEDS sleep.

To those who complain about apartment cops coming to tell you to turn down the music - I get why you would be mad. Only 2 parties the whole year for you, you should get to let loose once in a while...

But remember that your apartment is one of a whole complex. If every apartment had a party only 2 times a year - that makes a heck of a lot of parties. Your friendly neighbors may tell you they don't mind - but I assure you there are other tenants within hearing range that are mad as H*** at you and called the apt. cops on you.

WE are sacrificing a heck of a lot for my daughter's education.
Your late and loud party - might be on the night before her thermodynamics test (or any of the other HARD classes she is taking) - the ones where the professor is trying to fail a certain percentage and my kid NEEDS to focus on studying and getting what few moments of sleep she can get - NOT YOUR LOUD MUSIC AND LAUGHTER.

Longhorn Landing has been known as a party place.
As a place with poor safety.
As a place with pleasant staff - but ineffective.
As a place with hit or miss roommate matching.
As a place with sloppy maitenance standards.

We found an older apartment complex with a crappy pool - that is less than half the distance to campus, MUCH safer, and a manager who is on top of all maintenance.
And is filled with engineering and graduate students.
There is NO NOISE problem.

TAKE THE TIME TO LOOK AROUND FOR OTHER APARTMENTS.
If you are there to party - you will be in good company at Longhorn Landing.
If you are there to study - BEWARE!
My kid was put on academic probation for 2 semesters due to low test grades. UTAustin doesn't care if your grades are low because you couldn't focus your studying or get enough sleep because of the loud party 5 doors down.

These negative posts ARE NOT FAKE.
to be fair -
The people who are happy and content are ALSO RIGHT - either they had good luck, or lower standards.

Okay, first of all, if this girl was paying for her rent in cash, plus two textbooks, that is a lot of cash to be carrying around alone on Riverside. 350 is the cheapest rent at LL and textbooks at UT are usually $100 at the cheapest- so that is about $550 she was carrying around...alone on Riverside. That is just not smart And your daughter is responsible for her own actions. You can't blame it on an apartment complex. I know plenty of people at LL that have 4.0s or close to it. Maybe she just isn't smart enough to be an engineering student? Ever thought about that?

Dude, Shut the !@#$ up. Regardless, of your opinion whether it was wise or not carrying that much cash around on Riverside. It was broad daylight!! This girl was IN the apartment complex. I highly doubt you walk around with brass knuckles in your pocket in case you get jumped. The fact that you can say that it is her fault her G.P.A. plummeted because of the incessant noise/fighting/smoking/screaming is absolutely ridiculous. First, of all LL markets itself as a student oriented apartment complex, none of the attributes listed above are conducive to studying. So, you have a cause to complain if LL markets itself for what it is, and that's as a crime ridden/drug infested hell hole. Obviously, there are also "plenty" of people who cannot study because they are making complaints on this website. Also, I am curious about these "people" who make 4.0's at LL. Who are they? It's great you can make assertions with no evidence. I don't see people saying, "Living at Longhorn Landings has helped me make a 4.0 GPA" on this website. Have a valid response before you say anything!!!

Sorry so clandestine - it's just that my daughter has friends who are also trying to move to this complex - and I don't want to mess anything up for them - just in case. I'll keep an eye out at the myspace account in case you write there.... GLAD TO SEE OTHER STUDYING TYPES ARE OUT THERE!!!!! Good for you!!!!

I'm sorry that this happened to your daughter. Simple fact is that it can happen anywhere. You daughter was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time around the wrong deranged person.

Oh, sorry. I should have explained better. My daughter was not attacked. It was another LL tenant. My complaint is that LL presents itself to prospective tenants and their parents in one light. But the reality is different. LL needs to be honest. Longhorn Landing is actually a better fit for my second child. He parties hard. His college experience is more social than studious. And he is a big muscular guy who would stand up to people jumping over the fence.
