I overheard an employee today talking about a review she placed on this website under duress from her employer. I do not know which review it was, but I would expect that many of the positive reviews are from employees.

Instead of describing everything, I have made a list of all my positive and negative experiences here at Longhorn Landing:

Good:
-they are usually very good at cleaning up beer bottles from the pool area, in fact, the pools are the only place at LL that can be expected to be clean, that and the main office and the tour building.
-if you are an obnoxious ------- and like throwing parties, this is the place for you! They will not respond to neighbor complaints, and do not check student status, even though they claim that all their residents are students (I would guess about half of the residents are students.)
-the price at $415 (for the 07-08 year) is not that bad, with all bills paid

Bad:
-I was robbed in my first month of residency. When I asked to file a report with the employee at the desk, she laughed at my misfortune.
-the thin walls force me to listen to the lovemaking of not one, but two of my neighbors, as well as the dull thuds from the fat couple that lives above me.
-the internet works about 1/2 of the time
-I had to file to have the cable jack in my room repaired twice a week for 3 months before I finally tracked down one of the repairmen and had him fix it myself. 3 months after this, a repair guy showed up to fix it.
-The fire alarm in my building gets pulled almost every other weekend at 1AM, waking everyone in the building.
-a car is broken into about every week or so. Longhorn Landing do not close the security gate, and people come and go as they please.
-the office worker tried to steal my x-box 360 that came in through the mail. It was only through my UPS certification that I knew it had been signed for and could convince them that the cops could probably find it. Miraculously, after my mentioning of the police, it showed up! WOW!
-I was overcharged some amount, and after I talked to Angela the manager it took her 6 months to get around to NOT DOING IT. I finally came down in person and asked if I would have to take the complex to small claims court. Amazingly, Angela figured out how to discount my rent that month.
-I like volleyball, but I constantly see people's pets shitting in it that I assume it is just a giant kitty litter box at this point, so I don't think I can play.
-The exercise room has no working treadmills, and hasn't for a year now. If you want to use the working ones you must go across the entire lot.
-The employees are generally the rejects who can't get a real job. If you want to get any real help, you have to ask for the only two real employees there (the managers) who are actually worth a damn, and they usually aren't there.
-The guy outside my window has been working on his stereo system in his car for about 4 months, and everyone in the complex knows when he tries it out, as it rattles all of our windows. This happens very often. The people living here have no respect for others, and will blast their noise at all hours of the night.

Longhorn Landing is terrible, but not THE worst. I haven't been raped yet, so it can't be that bad, right' Avoid living here if you can.

I'll second most of these sentiments. As I write this review (6/28/08) I can hear the music from a Longhorn Landing sponsored volleyball tournament. I can't say exactly how far away the volleyball court is, but I know it takes me about 4 minutes to walk there. That should give you an idea of how loud the music is. LL bills itself as a great place for students, but I certainly haven't been able to get any work done since I moved in a month ago. And this is the summer. I can't imagine trying to study during the academic year when there are more people here. I couldn't try to count how many people here think it's cool to blast their car stereos (which are probably more valuable than their cars) while they screw around in the common areas. The above poster's comment about the treadmills are still true, as well.

Wow they sponsored a volleyball tournament on a Saturday afternoon in the SUMMER with FREE food and CASH prizes with a DJ and you are complaining that that doesn't appeal to COLLEGE students? Seriously that is an amazing complaint. That just baffles me how you view that as a negative. You hate fun, don't you?

I would like you to try to keep up with over 500 apartments. they try their best at the office to make people happy. I have had nothing but good service every time I go. If people are being loud with their car stereo call the police. As for the gates I have seen first hand why they break people who dont know their code get frustrated and force the gate open and i have also seen someone run into it for no reason. As for your car or house that got broken into, there are things you can do to prevent that, common sense, lock your car lock your front door, keep away bad company because 89% of the time the person that breaks into your car or apartment knows you personally and you give them the chance to earn your trust and they screw you..... oh and the other day i was picking up my package and i saw some jackass blow up because he was charged a late fee for late rent and for what? you signed a legal document "Lease" that says if you dont pay your rent on time you will be charged.... grow up and take responsibility for your actions. As for the Internet, Longhorn Landing has no power over the internet going down or working slow. its all up to time warner and if it does go down its because there was a huge storm the night before or the company is making changes, just because the internet goes down in your apartment does not mean its only yours it happens to many time warner customers in the area. also when there are over 1000 people here at least 80% of them are online of course the internet might run slow what do you expect? its not 2050 with personal internet service, just be happy that one bill from Longhorn Landing pays for everything.....
