WOW.. Guys...

You know, it is really frustrating to see so many reviews tainted with obvious bias, whether it be from management or ex-tenant. I came initially to this website hoping to find accurate information that would help me make an educated decision on the apartment complex that would fit my personal needs.

To all those seeking the same, be careful with this website. It is obvious that management writes positive reviews to compensate for tenants that have rightfully complained about poor performance. Good thing for us, for the most part, managers are terrible actors.

On the flip side, many tenants have decided to use this website as an outlet for whatever "injustice" they have suffered. Their reviews are usually exaggerated and geared at nothing more than destroying the reputation of a certain complex. These too can usually be determined by just using some common sense. If the tone is more emotionally-based than fact-based, chances are the truth is being bent. I've been all over Austin in search of an apartment. Some of the apartments with the highest ratings are located in areas that have an obvious deficiency in overall living standard.

I personally suggest looking at the reviews and finding common threads. Chances are, if everyone is saying the same thing, with the facts to prove it, it's true. Make sure to go in person as well. Get a feel for the management team. Be observational. Watch their behavior to establish sincerity. Are they just trying to make a sale' Look at the grounds. Does it look properly maintained' Ask questions. Look at all of the amenities. Pay attention to walkways. Be detailed when inside. Pay attention to the quality of materials within the unit (Paint, trim, counter tops, cabinetry, hardware, tile, caulk, carpet, etc). Don't let them hide things from you. After all, it may be YOUR future home.

Most of all, do your homework. You need to be educated when you walk in. Look at multiple complexes for comparison and contrast. Make a list of pro vs. con. From there, use process of elimination. Be reasonable but DO NOT settle.

Remember, the way you treat others is the way you will be treated (for the most part). If your easy to work with, you'll probably avoid a lot of problems. Do your part. If your living in an apartment, it's because you are self sufficient. Prove it. Don't bother maintenance with tasks that you could personally take care of. If those problems arise despite your efforts, take a stand. Don't let yourself be messed around with.

Use this website to educated others. Don't come hear to try to start a violent revolution or make a sale.

Unlike others,I am not here on behalf of the management nor in defense of the tenents only to state the obvious.
(check out other apartment communities on this website they all have similar things)

Your intimation that emotionaly charged reviews are false in nature is completely false. If someone is angry enough to post their negative experience here so as to warn others to what they can expect to this property, or for any other property, I see the emotion as a sign that the poster is passionate about whatever they have had to endure. This property is a KNOWN offender of basic tennant rights in the City of Austin, you can look them up at the Austin Tennants Council. This property personally extorted me out of $1200.00 that they would never have been able to prove valid had I had the resources to challenge them in open court. I have every right to post here when I disagree with something that I have read. Does my passion play as untruth there?

I was really frustrated and angry that I was told and assured of one thing at the office about safety precautions for my daughter at this complex, and the reality I found later. Does that make my input irrelevant? We found a MUCH better and secure place for her. The least I can do is warn others, perhaps other parents, about what is said to lure people into contracts that favor the apartment- and what the reality is. Then if they still want to live there, they do so with eyes wide open. And thanks to these angry posts - renters are now aware to get everything documented - or not. Information is up to you for what you do with it.

I see a lot of truth in what your saying. I understand a relevance in this post. As for the comments, this wasnt a post directed to LL specifically, if I understand correctly. Rather, something many ppl posting here need to read. This wasn't discrediting anything thats been said.. Only making a different point; Why shouldn't people be able to make a different point? Is that not just a relevant as the unfavorable situations you have experienced? Anyway...tnx for the tips cj. Good advice.
