Cons of living here
Students:
I lived in LongHorn Landing for a year and it was by far the worst living arrangement I'd ever had. I work at night, and one night I was off work and saw a disturbing scene. I was going to the grocery store at 2am, as I was walking down the stairs this guy came running out of his apt and blood was gushing out of his arm extremely fast, the stair well was soaked with blood. He was stabbed by a "customer" of his. What home base business did this "entrepreneur" operate you ask' Well, the simple answer is drugs. This apt complex as a whole is saturated with drug dealers, and a steady flow of drug addicts who don't live there. Also, don't be fooled by the apartment the leasing agent shows you when you're thinking about moving there. The apt you will actually move into is going to be a disaster in comparison. Ask to see the actual apartment you will move into prior to signing a lease, which you hopefully won't after reading all the reviews listed for this place.
Parents:
If you're a parent and concerned for you're kids safety and care about their belongings (e.g. their car/tv/and other electronics), do NOT allow your kid to move here. There is no way for someone to live at this complex for 6months or more and not see an act of violence or theft (e.g. stolen car, busted car windows to be stripped of sound systems, and even personal belongings stored in their apt.
Pros of living here
The are only 2 Pros to living at LongHorn Landing. First, it's a fairly inexpensive living arrangement for students/parents with a low budget. Secondly, if you ever have to call the Police, the longest it takes them to arrive is about 5minutes maximum. This is because so many illicit activities take place here, they make sure to have regular patrols near by at all times.
In Conclusion
Overall, this is probably one of the most dangerous/dirty student living complexes in Austin. For the mentioned reasons above I give this complex a -10 on a scale of 0 to 10. I can guarantee you will read numerous other reviews mentioning everything I have so far. Parents and students alike should be wary of moving here.

As the new Property Manager, I am working on these issues to get resolution. Some action I have taken is to close the controlled access gates 24 hours a day. In additon, a top priority is ensuring that our pedestrian gates are fully functional. Our screening process is consistent and thorough, it includes a criminal background check, renter's history, and credit report. As the new manager, I take any resident concerns very seriously and ensure my staff does the same. I will respond to issues and encourage residents to come to me with any suggestions on how we can better serve them. On a positive note, we have received many recent comments on the resident functions, Longhorn Landing events, and the positive change in staff. Many times, apartment reviews tend to be only negative, when there are many residents who come away with a positive experience. We have many residents who have lived here for multiple years. We encourage you to stop by Longhorn Landing to form your own opinion.
Thank you,
Longhorn Landing Management
