There isn't a single thing I can think of that this apartment complex does right

This apartment community has done nothing right since my signature landed on the lease. I'm going to give a chronological listing of the major problems that have been encountered.
1) The apartment we were given was not the one we were shown, and when signing the lease, we were told it was the same apartment. (NOTE: this does fall on me, however, they misrepresented the fact that it was the same apartment)
1a) The apartment I was given had numerous problems that put it in a state that wasn't even good enough to show. One of the door latch plates was gone, the wood around where it would go torn up, and then painted over. This means that the door it was for (the bathroom door) would sit in the closed position, but nothing was holding it there. There were so many layers of paint on the door frames that you had to forcibly push them closed. Door stops were missing. The fridge had significant rust on it. The carpet had burns and paint on it, and looked long past it's lifetime. The tub was peeling.
The apartment office made no attempt at repairing any of these problems, or finding a way to repair them.
2) The security gates have worked for 1 (one) day in the past year, yet they are trying to utilize a towing company to remove "dumped" vehicles instead of repairing the gates to prevent access
3) Frequent burglaries occur, windows are broken out for either entertainment or access to apartments, apartments nearby mine were vacated, door left open, and cleaning never done
4) Maintenance does not exist. Our air conditioner was broke, blowing nothing but hot air and the tub was leaking hot water for almost 4 months. We were given constant excuses of it needing to be above a certain temperature to work on the AC units (I did research, it needed to be above 65 degrees). This was in the spring, when the high's were 80-95 degrees. It took a certified letter (to fulfill the requirements to be able to sue) in order to get the AC unit fixed. It took less than 45 minutes to repair, and the leaking faucet in the tub took less than 30 minutes.
5) There is no such thing as safety in this apartment complex. The only reason I walk through there after dark and feel secure is because I have a permit to carry a concealed weapon.
6) Theft and vandalism - On a saturday afternoon in broad daylight, the rims and tires off of a car were stolen. I didn't witness the theft, but I saw the before, and then the after, and it was blatantly a theft. There is random red spraypaint, not even grafitti, but just someone bored with a spraypaint can that decided to paint up different locations. A strip here and there of red.
7) Trash disposal - There are several dumpsters located around the complex, however, their positioning makes it a LONG (300-400 feet or more) trip from any given apartment. There was even a month where the trash was never picked up and got to the point of overflowing (took another certified letter to remedy this problem).
8) Laundry room - For an extended period, less than half of the meager amount of driers were working, and even less of the washing machines. When you contacted the number listed, they simply state that they don't maintain the equipment and that it's the on-site maintenance's responsibility. Guest's had been nice enough to conspicuously label each one that wasn't working. The office's response was to paint over or remove the markings without repairing the equipment. They then posted a notice about how it is considered "vandalism" and to not post any notices, and instead notify the office. The process is still the same, anything identifying it as non-functional is removed and they call it fixed. There was standing water constantly in the laundry room of at least an inch in multiple locations for over a month. After numerous complaints, the office whined about not knowing and said they repaired the problem. The floor looks like it had no cleaning performed after the maintenance.
9) "Office Hours" - for a period of two weeks, visiting the office every day at different times during the posted office hours, no one was at the office, and the indicated time of return was "10:00" (the time they supposedly open. When the manager was spoken to about this, they simply made lots of excuses and could not provide a time that there would be someone in the office.
10) Office staff is utterly incompetent. For a period of two months, visiting 2 or more times per week, the office staff was unable to provide a firm, in writing price of how much the rent would be if I were to pay the month to month price for one month. It took showing up with the filled out 30 day notice form and ready to write a check for the last amount owed then and there in order to get a firm amount.
If these reasons aren't enough to stay away, I would suggest visiting the property, asking to see the laundry room, asking to see the outside of the apartment you would be renting, taking a long hard look at the mailboxes, make a full loop by the apartment doors (not through the parking lot as the office staff would have you do) and then hop back in your car and go somewhere else.

There are always two sides to every "story". I can't speak in regards to what I don't know but most of this is one sided. The vehicle missing rims was a repossesion of rented rims, obvious to any "MORON", since when does a thief nicely position your car on the tires they took off??!! As far as your apartment not being "perfect" it would be obvious to anyone the community was built in the 1980's, therefore impossible to make ready into "new" condition hence the inexpensive rental rates. As far as your problems, I find your timetable hard to believe-there is a great staff at Longhorn, its a rough world-problems happen, sounds like daddy's little princess needs to move home! |

i can not believe that a community mananger would write that. I am ashamed of my profession. That is the most childish disrespectful response to a resident that i have ever seen. You should be fired

I completely believe that the manager would write a response like that. She is very immature, rude, and condescending. When I called to complain she was even worse--she cussed me out. She said,"What do you want me to do? It's not my problem it's yours. If you don't like it get the ---- out. I do a damn good job. You think your opinion matters? It doesn't. Break your ------- lease and get out." The conversation gets worse. I can't wait to get out of these awful apartments. I hate the staff more than anything else.
