Check out the neighborhood before you live here.

Because we moved to Austin from another state, all of our apartment searches were done via internet. Unfortunately, we were unable to check out the neighborhood where Longspur Crossing is located. If you want to live in the Barrio, then Longspur Crossing is where you should live. I don't feel comfortable walking anywhere in this neighborhood.

Many of the other tenants seem nice. However, most tenants here don't speak English, so it is almost impossible to know your neighbor unless you speak Spanish. Some tenants are really trashy (for example, they throw their food and candy wrappers on the ground, they take beer bottles to the on-site playground and smash them all over the play equipment, they have very public domestic disturbances, they rip out boards from the fencing to make it easier to get to the adjacent shopping center, etc.) I don't understand why people don't want to take care of the place they live in.

The apartments themselves are fine for the price. They are large and clean. Rent includes some tack-ons not mentioned until you are ready to sign the lease: $2 pest control fee/month, $4 trash fee/month, $35 washer and dryer rental/month, and you also pay the complex for the water bill when you pay rent. I'm still a little wary of the water bill. It doesn't seem to be divided fairly. Last month the bill totaled $54.00 (absolutely outrageous).

All in all, we have lived here for 3 months and would love to break our lease to move to a better neighborhood. It is definitely a transitional apartment... I can't imagine anyone actually wanting to live here.

This is an incredibly accurate review. Props. I was in the exact same situation, moving from a different state. Same story.

I have thinking about moving there. Now, I am having second thoughts. I don't like living near trashy neighbors and renters who don't take care of property since they don't rent. Bad taste in mouth when there is hidden costs!
