Decent place, overall. there were some car burglaries when we first moved in but i think that has stopped. Great space for the price. Get one on the third floor if you can. Some scary stuff-- once there was some domestic violence in an adjacent building where a guy broke a glass coffee table, we got to watch it from our window. also some saturday mornings you hear the police knocking on peoples doors loudly, but i think that was the same domestic violence guy, he's gone now. The staff is nice and accommodating but overall don't seem to keep track of stuff too well. They lost our lease renewal and then started charging us extra, it took a coupla visits to get that straightened out. but they let us use the fax machine any time.
Oh and buy your own plunger. Our toilet backed up and it took two days and our house reeked of piss until the guy came to fix it. And our shower periodically leaks into the apartment below us, they come up and bang on our door like its our fault. I'm constantly afraid of mold growing under the linoleum and in the walls. When the shower first leaked they cut a 2' x 3' hole in our bathroom drywall to fix it and then left. Took about a month and several work orders before they patched it up. Maintenance is very nice but tend to do patch-up jobs rather than fix the real problems. Carpet is faux-berber but very poorly installed, linoleum terrribly installed. Appliances are circa 1980's but get the job done. Washer dryer hookups are nice. The water goes beserk every couple of weeks.
I have seen rats climbing up and down the trees but none in the apartment. Nice doves live in the trees and I"M GLAD they cut down those trees because it got rid of the grackel (blackbird) problem. Landscaping only nice in the front, by our apartment there are vast areas of dirt with a few rocks trying to cover it up.
As far as fellow residents, no problems. Quite a few families and lower income residents but that only matters if you are an elitist.
Cameron road shuttle takes about 20 minutes to get to campus. Runs every 10 minutes.

Best Review I've read..and I've read a lot of them. Thank you for including actual experiences with the UT shuttle system, that's a main concern of mine.
