Pay to breathe - Place full of creeps

I will start by saying that I had a roomate pull out on me at the VERY last minute and ended up trapping me in this place for about 5 months. Madison was my last choice.

BUT, while I was here I noticed some very uncool things. First, you're gonna PAY to do anything. You gotta have renters insurance before you even get the keys. Want to park near your unit' Good luck finding a spot (which are TINY). There's a monthly charge for a carport or garage that could be on the other side of the complex. My first night there I had to park 3(!!) blocks from my unit and walk. Want to use the alarm in the unit' That's a monthly charge, too. ANYTHING they can add a monthly charge to, they will.
The other thing I noticed was that I felt as though I was being watched ALL the time. And not the neighborly, "hmmmm, I think I'll keep an eye on things so that we live in a safe environment" being watched. More along the lines of being sized up in East Austin. I never felt fully comfortable here, always felt like I had to watch my back and my stuff. Not friendly, not cool, not inviting at all.
Do yourself a favor, pass this place by.

Unless you like that minimum-security prison feel at a maximum-security prison price, don't live here.

Reviews like this really annoy me. Why do complain about things that are common to ALL apartment complexes, like paying for an optional covered reserved parking space or garage? Why would you complain about a policy requiring renters insurance? It's cheap and well worth the cost, and you get the added bonus of knowing your neighbors have liability coverage in case they start a fire. It sounds like you had a chip on your shoulder from day 1. It also sounds like you won't be missed.

dude, I have lived here for over a yr...How can you say that people here are not friendly? This is not the "hood"..the majority of the residence are from ----- for God's sake. Not once have I had an issue....Maybe it's because you are a total tool and did not pay your bills or lost your deposit. Its usually the one that has has no reason to complain that does the most complaining. Future prospective residence...At least come check the place out. This is a great community w/ children, great neighbors and a wonderful staff. I love you Madison!!!!!!!

Both of you can kiss my ass. If you like it there then why not put up YOUR experience? This was MY experience. Every bit of it. I payed everything on time and like I said in the review I was trapped there at the last second. Also, most of the people there AREN'T from -----, I noticed alot of them there, but it wasn't the majority. MORE than once I had people mad dog eyeballin' me while I was walking up to my apartment, just like the east side. Also, while I was there 2 freakin' apartments were broken into on the same weekend, coincidence? I payed all my bills, ------------, I notice you comment on every bad review... Also, I've lived in apartments for 20 years and not being able to park within 3 blocks of your apartment was NOT a problem anywhere else I have ever lived. I, for sure, won't be missed, and I can't tell you how HAPPY I am I got the hell outa there. I didn't complain, I didn't have to. It's all here. And -----, try a little harder to act like you don't have some obvious reason to refute bad reviews... you do it to every one.

I completely agree with paying to breath. They charged me $50 for 2 gate passes and most of the time the gate was open or others would wait for me to open the gate and 6 cars would drive in. (Security, what's that?) Then I had the privilege of walking across the complex because of no parking.
