I have lived here since July 2004 and have had no major complaints. Whenever I have requested maintenance, it has been taken care of within 24 hours - including a new garbage disposal and faucet. When replacing the faucet, the maintenance man noticed that part of the lock on my front door was loose (I had not bothered to report it), so he fixed that while he was there, too.

I love the feel of the apartment itself - good size for not a lot of money, not white walls, granite counters in kitchen, tile floors in kitchen and bathroom, crown molding, etc. The grounds could be prettier, and there are a couple of "sketchy" people in the complex, but I've always felt safe.

The pool is cleaned M-F daily, but there are trees overhead, so it doesn't take long for it to look dirty again - but they do clean it, I swear! Unlike other reviewers, I have seen the security guards, and the gates are usually closed. Honestly, if you move into a complex because of gates, you're fooling yourself because even when gates are kept closed, people can just follow in a car that knows the code - this is true of every complex, so that is hardly something to criticize Chelsea Regent for.

Overall, no, it's not the nicest area, and it's not the prettiest complex, but my apartment is great, it's not noisy, and the shuttle to UT is perfect - only 10-15 minutes on the bus to campus. I just read the whole way and don't have to bother with campus parking.
